Chemical Constituents:

 The plant contains Eugenol (57.94%), β-caryophyllene (15.32%), β-elemene (7.57%) and germacrene D (9.10%) while that of dried leaves were eugenol (6.34%), β-caryophyllene (18.20%), β-elemene (11.38%),caryophyllene oxide (29.36%),ocimumosides A and B and ocimarin, apigenin, apigenin-7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, apigenin-7-O-β-d-glucuronic acid, apigenin-7-O-β-d-glucuronic acid 6′′-methyl ester, luteolin-7-O-β-d-glucuronic acid 6′′-methyl ester, luteolin-7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, luteolin-5-O-β-d-glucopyranoside, and 4-allyl-1-O-β-d-glucopyronosyl-2-hydroxybenzene, and two known cerebrosides,β-bisabolene (13-20%),1,8-cineole (9-33%) and methyl chavicol (2-12%),tannins, alkaloids and volatile oil. Oil mainly consists of eugenol, ursolic acid, rosmarinic acid, thymol, linalool, methyl chavicol, citral and beta-caryophyllene,linalol, methylchavikol, methylcinnamat,1, 7-dimethyl-1, 6-octadien-3-ol, and eugenol. Elements that activate beta-cells of the pancreas Cu, Ni, Zn, K, and Na are trace amounts ; Fe, Cr, and V.
